There is a small discount (50 cents per bus ride) for using the cards, but the main advantage is not having to carry exact change (required on SF buses and street cars). Once you have your luggage, follow the signs for AirTrain, a free tram service to all terminals. Within minutes, you will be matched with a driver. Cable Cars and Street Cars Cable cars and street cars are San Franciscos historic public transit cars. The Amtrak San Joaquin offers departures from Bakersfield and Fresno. Please note: BART is working to move toward a Clipper-only fare payment system. No proof of vaccination is required for the Alcatraz tours. Clipper Card The Clipper Card is an easy way to use the various modes of public transportation throughout San Francisco. You don't have to "check out" with the card when you get off. If you already have the card, you can load the pass online or at a ticket booth. Tap your card on there and it will light up green. Who can get a Clipper Card? When you purchase an SF CityPass, you'll receive a voucher online which you will need to exchange for a CityPass booklet when you arrive (see voucher for exchange locations; they're in the Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf areas). This pass stopped including the 3-day SF Visitor Passport as of March 1, 2020. The fare is calculated automatically when you exit.
It is primarily a commuter service for people who work in San Francisco. Both lines then emerge (at different points) and run like streetcars and trains above ground for the rest of their routes. After that, the pass will be for the following month. Woods, the Botanic Gardens, Golden Gate Park, Japanese Tea Garden, Pier 39, SF Clipper Cards and MuniMobile are cashless methods of paying for individual tickets and can also be loaded with the passes. You can buy adult Clipper Cards from the Muni and Golden Gate Ferry ticket offices and machines, BART stations, and atvarious locations in San Francisco, or you can order one online (clippercard.com). The city is served via Thruway bus connections at Emeryville. Indoorswimming pools are open to full capacity. Golden Gate Transit is a public transportation company that mainly provides bus and ferry services for the North Bay (Marin County and Sonoma County, north of the Golden Gate). Purchasing this pre-loaded card gives you access to BART, Muni buses, Muni Metro, and cable cars. It can be confusing because there are four ferry services connecting San Francisco to other locations. Malls are open. Hotels are accepting reservations, but travelers are urged to limit contact with others in the hotel. Caltrain Caltrain provides commuter rail service along the San Francisco Peninsula. Round trip BART fares from OAK to San Francisco ($20.40), downtown Oakland ($15.90) or other East Bay cities are less than half the cost of taxis or shuttles to the same destination. Note:You can load cash on the card at BART stations, but not the passes. Terminal 2: Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level, center island adjacent to Courtyard 2. If you're in line to get on, and it's the Powell/Mason car, but you prefer the Powell/Hyde Line (written on the cars), you can let other people go ahead of you to take the other car. Using passes on the cable cars. COVID-19 Status:atmidnight on Monday, March 16, 2020,San Francisco was placed under a "shelter-in-place"order. Get on there, get a seat, and relax. But have no fear! The Bart trains run underground, under Market Street, like a subway, then emerge above ground in the outer areas of SF. It just gives us a little taste of a subway vibe, while most of our city rail travel is above ground. When it pops out from the top slot, remove it to open the gate and board the San Francisco/Antioch train. Good photo op on that stretch, too: nice views of Alcatraz and the Wharf. Clipper Cards were introduced to San Francisco a few years back to make it easier to travel on the buses without a pocketful of coins and dollar bills. Buy your ticket at ticket machines at the SFO BART station. Heading east out of San Francisco, BART stays underground for a few Oakland and Berkeley stops after it crosses under the bay, then travels above ground for the rest of the East Bay stations. Cable cars are located downtown and run on three lines: Powell-Hyde, Powell-Mason, and California Street. Purchase tickets at the terminal. The pricing and services are pretty similar between the two. Alcatraz tours sell out so booking in advance is very important, especially during the summer season on holiday weekends. If you have the proper amount of money on it, try holding it on there longer until the green light appears. SF no longer requires that restaurants, bars, theaters and gyms check for proof of vaccination, but they can choose to require it, so check each venue individually. In September, they resumed full service, starting with the Powell-Hyde Line, and the other 2 lines to follow after. There are also multiple options and special prices for traveling groups. Insider tip: avoid the BART (and Muni) station at Powell and Market if you can. The San Francisco cable cars run on three routes: Senior/Disabled: $8.00 7 am - 9 pm; $4.00 9 pm - 7 am. You can ride all the Muni buses and trolleys until 11:59 pm, but not the cable cars.

There are two Caltrain stops in San Francisco: 22nd Street and Fourth Street. In the International Terminal, passenger pick-up is on the Arrivals Level roadway center island. The F-Line streetcar runs up and down Market Street all the way to Fishermans Wharf. No, they don't sell reserved places on the ferries; it's first-come, first-served. The Peninsula. The passes can be loaded online or at any of the locations in the link above. Does San Francisco have a subway system? Fares and travel times vary according to demand and local traffic, but a typical ride from OAK to SFO takes approximately 45 minutes and ranges in price from $30-45. Drivers wait for passengers on the second curb of the pickup area. The various SF transit passes don't include the ferries. Face masks are required on all the buses, trains and ferries. They run a ferry service to several locations around SF Bay, including Sausalito, Tiburon and Angel Island. Masks are required inside the SF airport. Driving in the city can be challenging and parking fees are costly. Both are in Zone 1. Then place your ticket at the designated slot on an entry faregate. Then you go to the Add Fare machine nearby to add more money, cash only (they tell you how much). MuniMobile can't be used on the ferries. Make sure to communicate with your driver; call, text, or wave down their car and always confirm that you are getting in the correct vehicle. If you need to use the card right away, add the money or passes in person at the ticket booths in Muni Metro and BART stations, or at one of the locations linked to above. One of the first things visitors to SF notice is the very long lines for the cable cars! Many stops are within a short walking distance from Muni or Golden Gate Transit bus lines. What if you underpay? San Francisco is one of the better cities in the U.S. for getting around without a car. Take either the Red or Blue AirTrain line to the Garage G and BART stop in International Terminal G to take BART. MuniMobile. From the South, the Coast Starlight travels daily from Los Angeles. The cards don't expire, so you can use it for more than one trip (but it can be a hassle to get the money refunded once it's on the card). Both the Day Tours, Night Tours and Behind the Scene Tours are running now. Most of the routes are above ground for both transit systems. They're easy to park, too; tuck them into any small space. Masks are no longer required for students in SF public or private schools. See fare calculator. Adults $76, Kids (5-11) $56. Uber and Lyft both offer options to request a private car service as well as shared car options for a discounted rate, such as Lyft Line and uberPOOL. It kind of looks like you should insert it in the ticket slot, but don't. And the ferries are large, so they don't fill up.
