It smells amazing on paper. People seem to love it. When I found out it got discontinued, it made me want to rage quit perfume. It was already discontinued when I bought it but still easily available in 1oz bottles. Its a shame they discontinued it, if I had to bring back one product it would be this. This is vanilla extract and rootbeer. I order. I love a good creamy vanilla, and this is one of the best I've sampled. And you can always get a coupon code for 10-15% off, just Google it. I just adore this. Buttery, sweet, booze-y. It ALWAYS elicits compliments, whether it's from men, women, or anyone in between. It's so strong too that it sometimes gives me a nausea feeling. This is buttery and rich. heavier ,darker sweeter version of the original alien. As my bottle's juice gets darker with age I could swear it's getting more delicious. A new vibrating talisman bottle encapsulating a Floral Woody Ambery fragrance. Oh man! I sit in the chilly train, bury my face in the collar of the sweater and sniff this beauty while staring at browning leaves in the forests I am passing by. In drydown is a bit sweeter than the original but not too much difference. Oh my goodness this one is not for me. Its as if this is the OG and the OG was made after this. 
Bought a backup full size bottle right away without any hesitation! Become a member of this online perfume community and you will be able to add your own reviews. That doesn't happen here. I sprayed this on a card and sniffed throughout the opening and dry down. This is my new winter LOVE! Sprayed during hot and humid weather within my air conditioned apartment. We will have to wait and see if it's still limited edition or fully discontinued but I'm being advised it's been discontinued. Perfume lovers: 792,217 What was I thinking? I've decided I don't like jasmine notes though but I'm not complaining about this perfume, just that its helped me decide that I think jasmine is not a note I want in perfume (cf Ceylone by Xerjoff - oud and jasmine - poo!). It was limited edition but it's possible it is now in discontinuation..It is no longer on the USA Mugler website and others have stated it's being pulled worldwide as we speak off the shelves and sites. The orris root maybe? Truly speaking, I feel that everyone deserves to know and have this perfume and it should come back into production. I haven't tried too many flankers but didn't like the ones I tried either like: Aqua Chic,EDT,Eau Sublime. I think it has been undiscovered as a dupe for Essence Absolue simply because women dont wear it! It's cozy and inviting. I could inhale Essence Absolu all day, which now that I think it "out loud" sounds like a terrible idea. I usually want to choose this one over all the others in my possession. So different! Blind bought this based on the glowing reviews. The most amazing and gorgeous perfume. Definitely an evening scent or Fall/Winter. I think this will be lovely in the fall and winter. I stayed away from DH for as long as I could, then washed my arms twice. Very classy feminine perfume! They need to bring this one back. You can still buy 30ml bottles of this on Fragrancebuy.ca I've buy it, but I already have a 60ml bottle of this beauty. Ultimate delight. Phew, strong enough anyway. It is sweet and pretty auntie Rose said my 3 year old niece, after she sprayed it on herself. Yes as others have commented it does smell like rootbeer in the beginning but then it dries down to this rich smooth silky vanilla with an incensy vibe. I smell almost every ingredient - which is rare for me, since I do not have a super-nose. To my nose at this time this smells like pepper (that tickle sneeze up top), tobacco and a skanky body musk. This fragrance is lush. It seems more of a different fragrance than an Alien flanker. F*cking contemplating it! Like the blonde older cousin who went to a small public Ivy League school. I am NOT an alien fan. I have smelled the original Alien. Alas, the perfection of the original composition is never to be again. It is well blended and pretty, and I do appreciate that about it I typically love vanilla perfumes, and this one won't be a FB purchase for me. long! Anyone know where I can find this at a good price? An exceptional example of when Mugler does flankers right! To me, the vanilla is in the background, adding a bit of rich sweetness. This is amazing. I finally got my hands on this. There's such a strong rich vanilla, it's deep sensual and sweet, not artificial smelling as so many other vanillas tend to be. I'm pretty new to perfume, and am, therefore I horrible reviewer, but I will say that I didn't get any indolic whiffs unless I put my wrist to my nose and HUFFED it for all I was worth. Alien and AEA are different enough that it wont hurt to have both if you love the original Alien. I don't understand why it was discontinued. After it dries down completely which is several hours later I do smell a light vanilla but this just does not work for me. Very sweet - spray lightly! Bought it blind few days ago and since than wearing it every day to test its behaviour. A beautiful and unique take on vanilla and amber that has a soft and velvety suede leathery undertone structuring the whole fragrance. It's got a little bit of spice and that specific jasmine note that seems unique in Mugler fragrances. This fragrance was so hyped, I got my hands on a bottle online as it has been discontinued. Such a deep sexy vanilla.. She would pass by swiftly and leave a trail that was like a magical spell, I don't remember ever reacting to a fragrance so notably. LOVE!!!! Also its a compliment getter.. Although, I wasnt impressed thus far, I desperately sniffed whilst it dried down to see if my mind could be changed. This amazingness lasted for days on my skin and developed so nicely. 9/10. Very good quality but not so much for me, though. Love Love. Please let me know if youre willing to sell me one :) Im from Portugal. This to me is the epitome of sexiness and sultriness. The good news is that when this juice is dry, its a heck of a lot softer and actually reminds me of baked goods. A bit addictive, I've worn her two days in a row now and am still loving every moment. But I still think Alien Oud is a better flanker. A beautiful British woman of the Raj is standing on the balcony smoking a cigarette. So sweet, so long lasting. It is invitinguse this with caution. Thankfully these subside after 15min or so and the fragrance morphs into a warm baby powder with gardenia lurking underneath. It's one of my most treasured possessions as far as fragrances go. Somehow I find that the composition is an 80s style perfume. Thierry Mugler adds another edition to the Alien perfume collection (founded with the original Alien from 2005), Alien Essence Absolue, in summer 2012. Shop your favorite fragrance on the nearest store. Dripping hot & golden! Its warm and inviting - but not overbearing/overpowering. I absolutely hate this, smells identical to the original Alien which I also hate. Selling my 60 ml backup of this. I have been wearing this nonstop for a few weeks now, and loving it. I was expecting this to be jasmine heavy like the original Alien, but to me it isnt. This is just perfect - all of the beautiful DNA of the OG Alien but also smooth and rich and a little boozy too. Amber and vanilla are the main stars in this multi layered, sensual composition. Picture thisnight time in early 20th century India. Compliment getter for sure and lasts very well on clothing. Then a medicinal anise note lingers for awhile. Featuring an all - star cast of Mugler personas, protagonists from the worlds of fashion. This is the same bold jasmine from the original Alien, cradled in a warm, fuzzy blanket of amber. This smells like Alien (of course), but more amber-dominated. When I first cracked open an original formulation bottle, it smelled like dough. I could see how it could be a little overwhelming if over sprayed. If you have smelled this there is not way you can dislike this gem. A solid block of caramel whiskey and Guinness fudge melded together only to liquefy and ooze down your skin in a honey-golden drop of decadence. The vanilla comes out quite strong on me, but its not overly sweet. I find it also has a bit more sweetness than the original Alien. 
This wears like a heavy blanket of sweet yummy delight with an edge of sophisticated spice. Glad I never blind bought it! Does anyone know where to buy legit bottles in the US? My boyfriend likes it, and he can be pretty picky sometimes.
I love it! Very Sophisticated yet can be worn everyday in my humble opinion. sillage is very good. It opens up with a mentholated jasmine, very indolic and kind of skanky with lots of vanilla. @Anamandy, I'm wearing this today and I personally don't find it candy sweet. Thick, dense & gooey honey + vanilla + jasmine wrapped into cashmere. The vanilla in here is so creamy, but it is also dark and smokey, due to the incense. I love the wafts of it I got throughout the day, and when I smelled my wrists the scent was lovely as well. I used to wear it some years ago when it came out but then I didn't finish the bottle. It was too intense and it gave me a little headache,and I felt a little bit depressed of its deepness too.Not my cup of tea! It is superior even to my beloved Musc Mysterieux, which is another masterpiece that I love. Im new here and I apologize if Im in the wrong location to ask this, maybe someone could kindly direct me where to go with this question..I bought an Alien essence absolue 60 ml refill bottle online after many questions etc, seller was very responsive, answered all my questions, Im feeling confident its legit. Hype strikes once again. day. I guess the glow-y amber quality and the yummy, powdery vanilla have blinded me to its undercurrent of lust and unmentionable things. It takes hours to get to that smoky, creamy vanilla/amber dry-down. It didn't! longevity is wonderful:). I'm SOOO glad I did! It is a nice feminine creamy scent, but unfortunately too powdery for me. It's an interesting composition, like a cross between eucalyptus and some kind of old-fashioned European candy. Definitely a winter fragrance because it's very heavy and thick. Too bad it's discontinued but I loved musc mysterieux, hopefully mugler will still make some good incense scents like these. They are pretty similar. I just wanted everyone on here who loves the original to know this option exists. I dont want to get an overpriced bottle from eBay and would prefer getting a dupe. Simply irresistible i wanted to nibble at my arm. Dont know about other countries. I seriously question why Essence Absolue would be discontinued, as I have heard it has, since it has such a massive following.
Just received a couple of days ago and at first spray, I didn't like it because I thought it smelled medicinal but afterwards, it blossomed into a creamy vanilla white floral. For the best experience, please turn your device. I am beyond heartbroken that they discontinued this masterpiece. Now this was a blind buy I was nervous about, mainly because of the incense note. I just had to come back and write again on this because I am amazed every time I wear it. This must be sprayed as it is intended. It would be my go to for casual wear, with more earth toned clothing. Eau Extraordinaire was good. This is so buttery and Rich. The most sexy scent I've ever used. This to me is amber with a hint of other notes. Fragrance Reviews: 1,286,867 Had someone told me this was from another perfumer say Francis Kurkdijan or Tom Ford I would've probably spent 200 dollars a bottle. 
HOOOLY F!!! This actually smells similar to Kilian Back to Black. With MUGLER you have to give them a chance ,but what I love about them is their first impressions, whether it's good or bad you will have one. So, I would rate the notes as jasmine top for the skank, myrrh, incense and amber. Even as a vanilla lover like me, one could think that adding an extra dose of vanilla to Alien would take away from its personality and make it a nondescript floral gourmand, but no. This is such a gorgeous vanilla, amber and floral mix. Thanks to Fragrantica community for your reviews otherwise I would have never tried it. I have recently fallen in love with the original alien which this does have the dna of- I also happen to be a vanilla and gourmand lover- its almost as though this scent was created for me:) Im in love and know what my go to fragrance is for fall and winter- everything from the opening to the dry down is heaven to my nose- cozy, comforting, uplifting and delicious:). As much as I dislike the original Alien, this version makes my senses go crazy in a good way. It's so beautifully sweet, creamy and amazing on me. Shes a Mugler lover so I trust her opinion when she says its the best dupe shes smelled. I dont know if is the heat that makes it to behave so poorly I will see in the cold temperature if something will change in terms of performance. This smells like a dark Amber, vanilla fragrance with the Alien DNA. It is seductive. Gold in a bottle. I couldnt stop smelling myself all. Declare as many as unique codes to receive suprises by the thousands! My absolute favorite fragrance of all time! Received tons of compliments while wearing it. Which is how long it lasted. Honey mentholated throat candies with a big dose of resinous vanilla and that signature Alien jasmine. Learn more about these extraordinary fragrances. This is the best between Oud and Musk. The essence absolue however has been described as the best Alien flanker and the most gourmand with a strong vanilla note in it which made me think that perhaps this would be the one that would make a convert of me. The other flankers dont really do the trick on my skin. It lasts forever too. The warm night air is heavy with the scent of jasmine and it mingles with the scent of cigarette smoke and her amber perfume. Longevity and sillage - above average, around 5 hours on my skin , on clothes a lot more. Alien was my favorite until I smelled this perfume! THIS SMELLS LIKE MONEY! Its one of the best fragrances in my collection. No amount of vanilla in the world will turn such medicinal notes into something edible. The sweetness of vanilla in the background makes me feel so warm and cozy. Smells expensive and classy but doesn't smell of anything complex or that interesting. The woman wearing this scent is very well put together and fashionable. What hasn't been said about Mugler's Alien Essence Absolue. I have to agree that it is smells kind of like cream soda. I am enjoying this a lot. Don't overdose, the perfume is really strong and long-lasting. Im not usually a fan of flankers, but this one is outstanding!
I was worried that Alien Essence Absolue would be way too much for me in the initial opening. I think because I'd tested it in the summer, it was overwhelming to me, but it's grown on me since I've tried it again, especially in the colder weather. I like this scent a lot. No sharp notes like original Alien. this is amazing.
I kept trying thinking my nose would sooner or later turn it into the vanilla bomb others experience. I am so sad that this perfume was discontinued (What were they thinking!?) This is amazing. Adding myrrh and caramel-vanilla to original alien really completes its profile, and the dry orris gives it this magic "sands of time" feel paired with the incense.
It was still everywhere. However, if you have not tried either, and find yourself in a position to purchase the newer version, I still recommend it highly, as it a lovely composition in itself. I dont get any amber or vanilla, just straight up alien jasmine. I also get the impressions of funnel cake, juniper berries, and jammy balsam fir. If anyone is looking to sell their bottle, Im interested!
I tried to use up my bottle as fast as possible. Another one of these highly rated fragrances on Fragrantica which is discontinued but no-one can explain why.
It is a very nice, warm scent but I don't like the jasmine note, that makes a little weird note in it. Which is what is going to have people following you around if you wear this fragrance. I can remember it being just a tad too strong on me. If you feel Alien is too strong. Any thoughts? Why? I have avoided Alien and it's flankers because it is described as a very strong indolic jasmine centered fragrance and jasmine is a note that I like only when it is delicate. It's got a rich, root beer type smell even. It had been quietly sitting in it's box at the back of my collection and I haven't worn it in a long time. But I still loved it and my high school boyfriend was always drooling over how I smelled. That's about all I could tell. I neednt have worried, and Im sooo glad I managed to pick up a new bottle of this. I also got a momentary whiff of baby powder (the orris), but that faded in an instant. Anyway, I love it, and I will be stockpiling before it's all gone from the world.
Ventured into Alien territory with trepidation when I managed to find a bottle of Essence Absolue still sporting the Thierry Mugler logo. Shoot it even smells amazing on my shirt but it does not smell amazing on me. It has a hint of Alien perfume, which I wasn't a huge fan of. This is one of those FOR SURE a little goes a long way fragrances. It's just kind of meh. On first sniff, I thought that this was EXACTLY the same as Alien. I have no words! In a nutshell, warm vanilla opening + the original alien. My bottles juice definitely is darker than these pictures, but its the right juice just has darkened a bit. This might be too big a horse for this old mare! This very much remains an expensive elegant, mysterious, sweet intoxicating fragrance that you just can't get enough of. It is warm, creamy, STRONG, confident and more sexy than original Alien! This is becoming really hard to find. It's such a gold fragrance. This has been my signature fragrance for years for some reason after watching a couple Jeremy and Demi Videos I decided I wanted to explore in the Niche world I have many as of this day from Roja,Francis Kurdjian to Frederick Malle and nothing specially with the huge price difference compares to this one , I feel I smell unique glamorous powerful I can use it all year round by just adjusting the amount applied ,longe ,projection compliments everything is monster and with boys it just bring them into this spellbound they dont want to scape, This has been my signature fragrance for years is just mesmerizing it can be used in any weather or occasion just by adjusting the amount you apply I feel sorry that I was planning to change for a niche but I have tried so many so far from Roja , Francis Kurdjian to Frederick Malle and have not found any compare to this , longevity, projection ,compliments how I feel when Im wearing it not to mention men got into an spell bound under this one, This is gorgeous! I have had this in my wardrobe for over 10 months and I had not reached out for it until today. It feels dark and mysterious, introspective, like a writer whose shoulders are covered with a cashmere shawl in a late night cafe, weaving a mystery in her mind, while comforted by this warm, comforting, rich fragrance and jasmine tea. Ive always liked the original Alien but find it a little sharp and synthetic. This is DEADLY good. To be fair, its quite nice. They are quite similar in composition so they mix extremely well, they last longer than when used on their own and the scent is simply out of this world. Beautiful! Animalic and opulent and very, very amber-y. So far I only love Saphir soleil (Sunessence edition)and this one. There are. We have different noses and chemistry, what doesn't work for some work marvelously with others, so if you're on the fence due to the reviews, I recommend you get a sample, it just may end up being one of your favorite fragrances if not your favorite. Very much like alien but somewhat warmer, creamier and deeper.. Good for winters . What should I say? The original will have the full name Thierry Mugler in script writing. I bought this perfume after watching Carlos on youtube review it and he compared it to a high end men fragrance. Id really appreciate it. Same dough smell, same maceration by a few months' time.
The sillage is incredible going way past an arm's length in distance where everyone will notice you. I've looked and looked but can't find anywhere. Yes, this is definitely Alien, but no, contrary to a previous comment, this is not "just jasmine", it's so much more subtle and complex. Just got my sample of this in the mail. So clever. Well, This came in the mail today and with ONE spray to my left forearm and then touching my other arm (not rubbing), I almost could not stand being in the same room with myself. In a word, this fragrance is luxurious. Keep the bottle as those are hard to find lol. Everything seems fine, but I have a question about the cap. Also, a bit t like Joop for woman. Since it's so hard to come buy, I'm now trying to find the perfect thick vanilla scent to layer with the original to achieve the same vibe. I was so happy to put my hands on a bottle but, in the end, I decided to give it away. So smooth sexy and deeply sweet.
If anyone tries it based on my recommendation, I would love it if you sent me a message and let me know what you think! I probably went through 2-3 bottles which, if you know its potency, is a long time. Both extraordinary fragrances, Alien Goddess Eau de Parfum and the new Intense scent leaves behind a trail facetted by the most glorious ingredients. It still maintains elements of the original but its warm, rounded, and mature. I can't believe I am about to say this about what is supposedly an iconic fragrance but to me this is vanilla flavored bug spray! Alien is more cologne fresh but sexy and deep whereas absolut is this toned down with brown sugar. For some reason I get no Jasmine at all which is a total bummer. My pandemic aromatherapy. I Bought this blindly because there were no testers and boy was i wrong , this really didn't work with my chemistry. Wow, this is beautiful! Ladies, get your back up bottles NOW.
AEA smells like the original Alien, but smoother and more buttery. The bottle design is inspired by the classic Alien bottled style and gold drops used as talismans in the Orient. The original Alien is everwhere in stores, but never saw this one. The reviews for Essence Absolue are so glowing that I blind-bought it. So it depends on where you live. Now, 14 hours later and 2 more arm washes, it's a nice skin scent. I forgot just how extraordinary this is! I accidentally layered it with Lauder Modern Muse Nuit and it is incredible layered with that. A sweet, buttery pound cake. It gives an impression of mystery, curiosity. THIS is sexy. not as punchy as original alien which is very nice!!! It smells amazing in the bottle. Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. If Alien is a stunning, but very distracted, unfocussed and absent goddes, frolicking between the stars and discovering new worlds of wonder, only to forget about them the moment she discovers something else, then Alien Essence Absolue is her mother, residing on Earth. While I do like it and recognize it as iconic in the fragrance worldit doesn't really "behave" on me if you know what I mean. I have a 2oz bottle that Im very sad to part with, but need the money. She is darker, more down to earth, less ethereal and much warmer. I think three sprays would be absolutely the max. Still unique, a little awkward, but has an enticing demeanor and a sweet, rich heart.
