As far as the complaints about this gum losing it's flavor quickly and being too small, if the reviewer knew anything about the history of chewing gum, they would know that all vintage gums lost their flavor quickly, and most, for a long time, were Chicklet-sized (except Wrigley's - which also lost it's flavor quickly). When I was 10 or so, after I got paid from my paper route, Id race to the local stationary store in Brightwaters,Long Island,NY and purchase an OMNI magazine and a few packages of C.Howards VIOLETS.Id head to the park and munch mints and read for hours.Thats about the only thing in my crappy childhood that is nice to remember.I was telling my friend about this candy just last week (we were talking about flowers in food), and today,I went to the smoke shop to buy discount cigarettes and there on the counter was one single package of VIOLETS in an empty carton.Purchased for only 60 cents I feel pretty good about things.They do have a little soapy aftertaste,but nothing to cry about.Compared to those Flavigny violets pastilles going for $2.75 per package online (thats nuts), I feel like I stole them,lol.My 11 yr old daughter gets home from summer recreation in two hours.Id like her to try them.Hope theres some left! I just love them. The flavor is not at all like the mint, its got a nice cinnamon/clove twang to it and a little touch of the flowery violet. I bought em for the first time in a candy shop far far away from my house & its a shame because i only bought 1 pack of the mints(not knowing what they tasted like). Ive only had one pastille, and though it was OK (and lasted too long in my mouth), I love the smell of them!

Those are the same I rememberwe lived in Chicago when I was a kid and my grandmother and I would go to get those violet squares I loved them and have been searching for them forever. I think I will go to the website and order them because they are way cheaper that way and the new guava mints they have are pretty decent, very strong taste though. I find most people LOVE or HATE these delectable mints. I have similar feelings about amaretto because of a bad experience involving pizzelle dough that I wont go into here. Type: Mint & Gum.
